About Yael
Hello, my name is Yael Herbstman. I am originally from Chicago where I graduated from Columbia College. Since then, I have been interpreting for a total of 14 years. In that time, I have interpreted in a variety of settings including, K-12, Post-Secondary, Community, VRS, Performance/Platform and Medical. I currently am working in the school district where I find the most joy with students in middle school or older.
Recently I have received my Masters in Interpreting Pedagogy. I have found that this is an area of education I thoroughly enjoy. I believe that interpreters can raise the standard and achieving a higher level for the field. This is my motivating factor for being a mentor. I encourage my mentees to grow, to be challenged, and most of all to play with the language!
Aside from being an interpreter I am a wife and a mother to two exciting children. I enjoy spending my time crocheting, spending time with my friends, and becoming a coffee connoisseur!
